I cherish the day
When our first grandson
Arrived our home.
The baby had an unprecedented
welcome never seen before.
His uncle was ready
with the largest can
of Johnson’s baby powder.
The aunts had heaps
of dresses and nappies
for the nephew, who had
Given them the aunt’s status.
The grandfather was
busy distributing laddos,
I cleaned and stylised
mother and son’s room.
Beaming faces everywhere,
What a wonderful day
that was.
